Fairhopping

The downtown signings and talk on Cultivating Inspiration went well. After those, I had an opportunity to speak with several classes at Fairhope High.

Fairhope School Visit

Thursday,  April 24th,   4:30 at the Fairhope Public Library.
I’ll have a followup meeting with students particularly interested in growing their creative            writing skills. Looking forward to it!

 

 

Appearances – Fairhope Alabama

March 15th, 1 – 3 p.m. I’ll be signing books at the Page & Palette Bookstore, 32 S Section St, in Fairhope, Alabama.

March 27th, 6 – 8 p.m. I’ll be speaking at the community Writer-In-Residence Fundraiser, Fairhope Public Library. Topic: How We Cultivate Inspiration.

April 4th, 6 – 8 p.m. I’ll be back to the Page and Palette for another signing.

Writer-in-Residence: Fairhope or Bust

Charlie and his wife, artist Joan Pechanec, are traveling to Fairhope, Alabama, a utopian community on Mobile Bay, where he is honored and grateful to be the city’s next writer-in-residence. Fairhope has a rich and varied tradition of elegant artistry and craftsmanship. Creators in every field are proud to make this beautiful city home.

High Plains Award Finalist

Dead Girl Moon was selected as a finalist for the 2013 High Plains YA Book Award.  in October at Parmly Billings LIbrary in Billings Montana.

Charlie especially appreciated the gracious hospitality of the High Plains Committee, the savoir faire of Corby Skinner, the thought-provoking NPR interview with Missoula’s Chérie Newman for The Write Question radio show scheduled to be aired January 30th, 2014.

Having gone through high school in Billings it was great to return in late fall to friends, fishing, and a liberal dose of snow.

Charlie will be writer in residence

Charlie will be writer in residence at the Fairhope Center for the Writing Arts, in Fairhope, Alabama, from January through March 2014

In the early days of Over the Transom Bookstore’s operation, when Sonny Brewer first began inviting writers to town to read on stage from their works of fiction, the book loving crowd noticed something missing from the literary landscape in Fairhope. There was a conspicuous absence of information available on the town’s remarkable literary history and its tradition of being a home to so many writers.

Fresh Meat: Dead Girl Moon by Charlie Price

Dead Girl Moon by Charlie Price is a young adult mystery novel (available October 30, 2012). 

As their hardscrabble lives intertwine in a small, corrupt Montana town, Grace, a scheming runaway; JJ, her spacey foster sister; and Mick, the hapless son of a petty thief, discover the body of a dead teenage prostitute. Afraid to come forward, the teens try to hide their knowledge of the crime, because they believe the murderer is one of the corrupt officials and businessmen who rule their town. But after a series of false moves and dumb mistakes, the teens are soon suspects themselves in a murder investigation that threatens their freedom—and maybe their lives.
